Canada-based Nova Steel, a steel processor and distributor, inaugurated its third plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila and announced that it will soon build a technological development center to serve its 23 plants in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Nova Steel "inaugurated its number three plant in the Santa Maria industrial Park, in Ramos Arizpe with an investment of $37 million and 80 new jobs," the Coahuila government reported on its Twitter account.
The company manufactures parts for the automotive, construction, mining, agriculture, transportation, and railway industries, among others, according to its website.
The new plant has a productive area of 16,000 square meters, with the option of expanding another 15,000 square meters.
With the first two plants the production capacity was 130 thousand tons of steel products, now with the new plant it has a productive area of 43 thousand square meters. The company omitted to give more details about the technological development center.
Ramos Arizpe is the location of the vehicle and engine production plant of General Motors. Also, in the immediate vicinity, is the Stellantis vehicle plant, owned by the italian-american Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French Groupe PSA.
