Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 18, the US rotary rig count dropped by four, following a 9-rig decline the week before. This brings the current US rotary rig count to 476. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by five to 85, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 387. The overall rig count is still down by 593 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 29 in the week ending March 18 to 69, following a 31-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 71 from the same week a year ago.
