Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 21, the US rotary rig count increased by 14 to 553 following a 15-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 108, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 11 to 443. The overall rig count is still down by 234 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 22 to 143 rigs in the week ending October 21, following a neutral trend week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 47 from the same week a year ago.
