Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, is continuing the installation of the main and additional equipment of its new ladle furnace No. 3 at its oxygen converter shop. The commissioning of the new furnace, supplied by the Italian plantmaker Danieli, is planned for the beginning of November this year.

The producer's ladle furnace No. 3 is expected to process up to 1.2 million mt of steel per year. Meanwhile, the increase in steel processing will allow the plant to raise the productivity of the continuous billet caster No. 4 at its oxygen converter shop by 100,000-200,000 mt per year.
