China claims 69% of new shipbuilding orders in global market in Jan-Nov

In the January-November period this year, China attracted 69 percent of new shipbuilding orders (41.77 million CGT) globally, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea claimed an 18 percent share (10.92 million CGT), ranking second, according to the data issued by Clarksons, the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services.

In the first 11 months this year, 60.33 million CGT of new shipbuilding orders were transacted in the global market, up 36.0 percent year on year. 

In November alone, China attracted 61 percent of new shipbuilding orders (2.36 million CGT) globally, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea claimed a 29 percent share (1.44 million CGT), ranking second. In the given month, 3.87 million CGT of new shipbuilding orders were transacted in the global market, up 20 percent year on year, while rising by 37 percent month on month.
