In response to the announcement by the India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry that it has decided to initiate an antidumping (AD) investigation into pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) products imports from China, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has stated that the India has initiated five trade remedy investigations against China in the first half of the current year alone, making it the largest user of trade remedy investigations against China worldwide.

The MOC urged that the India should adhere closely to World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and desist from protectionism and should adopt a common approach with China to cope with the issue of excess capacity amid sluggish economic growth. The MOC stated that the Chinese and Indian steel industries should strengthen dialogue and communication rather than taking unreasonable measures.
