China initiates AD investigation into HR imports from Russia

China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) secretary general Shan Shanghua has announced that China's Ministry of Commerce has initiated an antidumping (AD) investigation into certain hot rolled products imported from Russia.

In his statement, Mr. Shan said that due to the global economic crisis there has been an acceleration in the flow of low-priced steel products from the international market into China. He went on to remark that imports of Russia's steel products into China during the first quarter of 2009 totaled 103,000 mt, up 210 percent year on year.

No further information regarding the AD investigation is available at present.
