The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in September this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 127.0656 million mt, up 10.34 percent month on month, valued at $7.703 billion. In the January-September period of the current year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 1.048816 billion mt, valued at $56.894 billion.
In September this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 77.1644 million mt and 30.4820 million mt respectively, up 5.29 percent and increasing by 34.48 percent month on month, with respective values of $4.632 billion and $1.923 billion. In the January-September period of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 650.89 million mt and 224.0046 million mt, valued at $34.635 billion and $13.122 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in September amounted to 6.6302 million mt, up 31.25 percent month on month, valued at $420 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 12.7890 million mt, valued at $728 million. In the January-September period this year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 45.6166 million mt and 128.3011 million mt, valued at $2.593 billion and $4.228 billion, respectively.
