The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in June this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 130.7219 million mt, up 14.9 percent month on month, valued at $7.367 billion. In the first half of the current year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 707.3633 million mt, valued at $37.221 billion.
In June this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 79.7829 million mt and 28.3379 million mt respectively, up 12.5 percent and increasing by 23.91 percent month on month, with respective values of $4.436 billion and $1.635 billion. In the first half of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 437.7982 million mt and 148.6458 million mt, valued at $22.532 billion and $8.576 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in June amounted to 6.4009 million mt, up 25.41 percent month on month, valued at $400 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 22.6011 million mt, valued at $1.296 billion. In the first half this year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 31.1582 million mt and 89.7611 million mt, valued at $1.681 billion and $4.431 billion, respectively.
