China opens AD and anti-subsidy investigations into grain-oriented electrical steel imports

On June 1, China's Ministry of Commerce announced the initiation of an antidumping (AD) investigation into grain-oriented electrical steel from the United States and Russia (announcement No. 40) and also the initiation of an anti-subsidy investigation into grain-oriented electrical steel from the US (announcement No. 41). Ministry spokesman Yao Jian said that the investigations would strictly follow the regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and domestic trade laws.

Mr. Yao said that the Ministry of Commerce is seeking to protect the rights and interests of domestic industries by means of the investigations, which will be conducted in an open, fair, and transparent manner so as to obtain an objective and just result.
