In August China will formally launch its stimulus plan to boost home appliance consumption. According to the scheme, consumers will be able to swap old appliances for new ones on the basis of certificates issued by designated recycling enterprises, which will guarantee a 10-percent subsidy for purchases of new appliances up to the end of May 2010.

The plan will initially be carried out in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Fuzhou, Changsha, and in the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Guangdong.
