China’s iron ore imports decrease by 0.5 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 89.354 million mt, down 0.67 percent month on month and increasing by 0.78 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 8. In the January-August period of this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 709.919 million mt, down 0.5 percent year on year.

In August, China imported 1.064 million mt of finished steel, up 3.6 percent month on month and increasing by 7.5 percent year on year. In the January-August period of this year, China imported 8.762 million mt of finished steel, down 0.1 percent year on year.
