China’s iron ore imports up 9.1 percent in January-May

In May this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 86.75 million mt, up 3.37 percent month on month and increasing by 22.4 percent year on year, while in the January-May period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 412.15 million mt, up 9.1 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
 
In May this year, China imported 1.09 million mt of finished steel, down 0.91 percent month on month and increasing by 3.8 percent year on year. In the January-May period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 5.32 million mt, declining by 3.0 percent year on year.
