According to the statistics released by China's General Administration of Customs, China's trading volume for the first ten months of the current year totaled $1.75549 trillion in value, down 19.9 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Chinese exports for the period in question came to $957.36 billion, down 20.5 percent year on year, while imports amounted to $798.13 billion, down 19 percent. China's total trade surplus for the period stood at $159.23 billion, down 27.2 percent year on year.
China's total trading volume in October amounted to $197.54 billion, down 10.7 percent over the same month last year. Exports decreased 13.8 percent year on year to $110.76 billion in October, the fourth straight month in which exports exceeded $100 billion. Meanwhile, imports in the month in question were down 6.4 percent year on year to $86.78 billion.
In the January-October period, the value of trade between China and the European Union, its biggest trading partner, totaled $292.42 billion, down 18.7 percent year on year. The trading volume between China and the US during the period in question was worth $239.36 billion, down 14.9 percent year on year. Finally, Japan continued to be China's third largest trading partner, with bilateral trade falling 19.3 percent year on year to $182.34 billion. In addition, the trading value between China and Brazil reached $34.76 billion in the first ten months of this year, down 18.6 percent year on year, with Brazil ranking ninth among China's trading partners.
