China’s steel bar exports down 19.8 percent in January-September

In September this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 1.02 million mt, 290,000 mt, 3.51 million mt and 170,000 mt, increasing by 7.8 percent, 25.6 percent, 16.6 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively, year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-September period of the current year, China's export volumes of steel bars and steel plate amounted to 10.41 million mt and 30.44 million mt, down 19.8 percent and 10.7 percent year on year, respectively, while angles/channels and wire rod exports totaled 2.69 million mt and 1.60 million mt, up 22.2 percent and 1.7 percent year on year. 

In September, China exported 5.95 million mt of finished steel, up 15.8 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-September period of the current year totaled 53.083 million mt, down 10.7 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
