China’s steel bar exports down 23.3 percent in January-July

In July this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 1.08 million mt, 3.37 million mt and 190,000 mt, decreasing by 13.3 percent, 21.2 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively, year on year, while exports of angles/channels totaled 300,000 mt, up 3.5 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-July period of the current year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels and steel plate amounted to 8.36 million mt, 2.09 million mt, and 23.54 million mt, down 23.3 percent, 8.3 percent, and 13.1 percent year on year, respectively, while wire rod exports totaled 1.25 million mt, up 1.7 percent year on year.

In July, China exported 5.88 million mt of finished steel, down 15.2 percent month on month and decreasing by 15.4 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-July period of the current year totaled 41.30 million mt, down 13.6 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
