China’s steel bar exports increase by 14.5 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rods and steel plates amounted to 2.95 million mt, 400,000 mt, 220,000 mt, and 4.34 million mt, down 29.4 percent, up 8.9 percent, up 41.8 percent, and increasing by 5.1 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
 
In the January-August period of the current year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rods and steel plates totaled 30.99 million mt, 3.61 million mt, 1.59 million mt, and 32.27 million mt, increasing by 14.5 percent, down 2.2 percent, up 5.7 percent, and increasing by 2.4 percent, respectively, year on year.
 
In August this year, China exported 9.01 million mt of finished steel, down 7.4 percent year on year, while the finished steel export volume in the January-August period this year totaled 76.35 million mt, increasing by 6.3 percent year on year, as previously announced by Chinese customs.
