China’s steel bar exports increase by 29 percent in January-April

In April this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rods and steel plates amounted to 3.55 million mt, 490,000 mt, 240,000 mt, and 3.72 million mt, up 30.9 percent, 6.2 percent and 9.0 percent, and declining by 10.0 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In the January-April period of the current year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rods and steel plates totaled 14.99 million mt, 1.73 million mt, 760,000 mt, and 15.64 million mt, increasing by 29.0 percent, 1.3 percent and 1.8 percent, and decreasing by 2.9 percent, respectively, year on year.

In April this year, China exported 9.08 million mt of finished steel, up 6.4 percent year on year, while the finished steel export volume in the January-April period this year totaled 36.90 million mt, increasing by 7.5 percent year on year, as previously announced by Chinese customs.
