China’s steel bar exports up 11.3 percent in January-May

In the January-May period this year, China’s exports of steel bars totaled 5.06 million mt, up 11.3 percent year on year, while wire rod export amounted to 1.09 million mt, up 11.9 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities. At the same time, China’s export volumes of angles/channels came to 2.29 million mt in the given period, up 14.6 percent year on year.

In May alone, China’s export of steel bar amounted to 1.2 million mt, up 17.8 percent year on year, of wire rod and angles/channels amounted to 240,000 mt and 490,000 mt, up 6.7 percent and up 7.2 percent year on year, respectively.
