According to the latest data issued by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), in March this year Chinese auto sales totaled 1.8 million units, increasing 17.33 percent compared to the previous month and up by 1.02 percent compared to March 2011. China's automobile output in March this year was 1.9 million units, rising 16.9 percent month on month and up 2.92 percent compared to the same month last year.
In the first quarter of the year, Chinese auto sales and output were 4.79 million units and 4.78 million units respectively, down 3.4 percent and 1.8 percent year on year.
In particular, in the first three months of 2011, the total sales and output of passenger cars amounted both to 3.77 million units, falling by 1.25 percent and rising by 1.1 percent compared to the same period of last year respectively. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales and output in China in the given period amounted to 1.02 million units and 1.01 million units respectively, falling by 10.6 percent and 11.4 percent year on year.
