According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of September (Sept. 30) this year the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 75.56 points, down 1.98 points or 2.55 percent month on month, while increasing by 14.37 points or 23.48 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of September, the CSPI long steel index was at 74.19 points, down 2.66 points or 3.46 percent month on month and increasing by 11.56 points or 8.46 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 78.48 points, down 1.46 points or 1.83 percent month on month and increasing by 18.18 points or 30.15 percent year on year.
As of the end of September this year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), seamless pipe and hot dip galvanized (HDG) indicated decreases of RMB 93/mt ($13.74/mt), RMB 108/mt ($15.95/mt), RMB 101/mt ($14.92/mt), RMB 98/mt ($14.48/mt), RMB 77/mt ($11.37/mt), RMB 24/mt ($3.54/mt) and RMB 4/mt ($0.59/mt), while the price of cold rolled sheet (CRS) was up by RMB 55/mt ($8.12/mt), all compared to price levels at the end of August of the current year.
