According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of April this year (April 30) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 84.66 points, up 15.79 points or 22.93 percent month on month, while increasing by 11.47 points or 15.67 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of April this year, the CSPI long steel index was at 86.02 points, up 17.74 points or 25.98 percent month on month and increasing by 12.14 points or 16.43 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 86.52 points, up 15.26 points or 21.41 percent month on month and rising by 13.14 points or 17.91 percent year on year.
As of the end of April this year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG) and seamless pipe increased by RMB 645/mt ($98.77/mt), RMB 667/mt ($102.14/mt), RMB 468/mt ($71.67/mt), RMB 494/mt ($75.65/mt), RMB 637/mt ($97.55/mt), RMB 562/mt ($86.06/mt), RMB 682/mt ($104.44/mt) and RMB 397/mt ($60.80/mt) respectively, all compared to prices at the end of March this year.
