Iron ore prices in China indicated overall downward movement during the month of May, as stated in a new report issued by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).
At the end of May this year, the China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) stood at 185.75 points, down 45.97 points or 19.84 percent month on month. In particular, the domestic production iron ore price index stood at 189.91 points, down 13.85 points or 6.80 percent month on month, while the import iron ore price index stood at 184.97 points, decreasing by 52.02 points or 21.95 percent month on month.
For the whole month of May, the average China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) was at 200.22 points, down 15.63 points or 7.24 percent month on month. In particular, the average domestic production iron ore price index was at 197.86 points, up 2.74 points or 1.40 percent, while the average import iron ore price index stood at 200.66 points, decreasing by 19.11 points or 8.70 percent, both month on month.
