Colombian iron and steel exports down 19.1 percent in January-April

In the first four months of the current year, Colombia exported 41,183 mt of ferronickel, down 6.2 percent, with a value of $93.8 million, decreasing by 47.4 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In April this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 9,465 mt, rising by 31.4 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $24.17 million, down 8.4 percent, both compared to April last year.
 
In the January-April period of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 54,893 mt, down 19.1 percent, with a value of $111.7 million, declining by 47.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In April this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 14,700 mt, increasing by 31.3 percent, and were worth $29.8 million, down 5.6 percent, both compared to the same month of 2015.
