Construction starts in Russia on Sino-Russian crude pipeline

As announced by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), construction work formally commenced on April 27 in Russia on the Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline, which is expected to be completed by October 2010. The whole pipeline is about 4,000 kilometers long, with the Phase I of the pipeline totaling a length of 2,694 kilometers.

CNPC vice-general manager Wang Dongjin has stated that the construction of the section of the pipeline within China will commence in May this year, with construction of the connecting section on the border of China's Heilongjiang Province starting in September. The length of the Chinese section of the pipeline is approximately 960 kilometers.
