Crude steel production in Argentina reached 463,600 mt in June, against 446,900 mt in May, according to the country’s steel association Acero Argentino.
Under the same comparative basis, the production of HRC increased by 22.5 percent to 220,600 mt, while the production of CRC declined by 2.6 percent to 96,900 mt and the production of long products increased by 13.4 percent to 217,700 mt.
In relation to the main steel demanding sectors in June, Acero Argentino mentioned that the main drivers for steel demand were agriculture machinery, the automotive industry, the energy sector and domestic appliances.
Meanwhile, the civil construction sector is showing the first signs of deceleration, although maintaining a high level of activities.
According to the association, a scenario persists with difficulties to import raw materials not produced in the country, due to the financial crisis Argentina is facing, including a shortage of foreign currencies and a very high inflation rate.
