CSP commissions steel mill, starts coke production

Vale’s JV owned steel mill, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP), has started coke production at its facility in the Pecem industrial complex, in the state of Para, as part of the mill’s commissioning stage.

Works at the company’s site is reportedly to be 99.6 percent complete.

A media report said coke output started at 50 ovens at the company’s No. 2 battery. The other 50 ovens at the mill’s No. 1 battery are expected to start-up within 20 days.

The company’s coke facility is said to be 100 percent complete. CSP expects to start-up in June this year, with a 3 million mt/year steel slab capacity.
