Danieli to modernize Italy-based Cogne Acciai’s continuous caster

Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that Cogne Acciai Speciali, one of the leading steel producers in Italy, has chosen them for the modernization works at its Aosta steelworks.

The modernization works will include replacing the cooling chamber in the continuous casting machine for special steel blooms with a new stainless-steel cooling chamber, improving efficiency and making maintenance easier. The new chamber will be preassembled at Danieli’s workshops, which will shorten the installation time. Also, a central support will be erected to support all the fixed curved sections of the caster including new roller modules and new hoods that are designed for heat containment.

Danieli will carry out the modernization works during the four-week summer shutdown at Cogne Acciai.
