Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply the most efficient and environmentally friendly plant for the production of wire rod and rebar to Chinese steelmaker Guilin Pinggang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Guilin Pinggang). The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million mt and is expected to be commissioned by July 2019.

Danieli stated that, located beside Li River and a tourist resort, and subject to a very strict environmental policy, Guilin Pinggang will be the first steelmaker in China to operate an ECR (endless casting rolling), energy-saving, low-emission plant.

The new plant will include a twin-strand continuous casting machine, an induction furnace and a rolling mill.
