Dominican Republic’s commission of trade defense, CDC, will hold a public hearing to discuss the imports of rebar from China on August 1.

According to CDC, the interested parties will have until July 25, 2016, to send their written arguments over the case. Gerdau Metaldom, a subsidiary of Brazil’s largest steelmaker Gerdau, will be the first company to speak in the public hearing.

CDC has applied on June 30, 2016, a provisional, ad-valorem duty of 33 percent over the Chinese imports of rebar. The measure is valid until November 11, 2016.

The products subject to the tariff currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7213.10.00, 7213.20.90, 7214.10.00, 7214.20.00, 7214.30.00, 7214.91.00 and 7214.99.00.

The hearing will help CDC decide on the current AD duties imposed to China, as it investigates the Chinese exports of the product to the Latin American country.
