The scope of the products under investigation includes bars and rods, hot rolled, in irregularly wound coils of iron, non-alloy steel or alloy steel other than stainless steel.
Upon the complaint lodged on March 25, 2008, by Eurofer (complainant) on behalf of producers representing a major proportion, in this instance representing more than 25 percent, of total EU wire rod production, the European Commission (EC) has decided to initiate an antidumping investigation into wire rod imports from China, Moldova and Turkey.
The complainant has provided sufficient evidence that imports of the subject merchandise from China, Moldova and Turkey have increased overall in absolute volume and also in market share and, therefore, have had adverse effects on the overall performance and financial situation of the EU industry.
Since there is sufficient evidence to justify the initiation of an investigation, the EC has decided to initiate an antidumping investigation for the imports of the subject merchandise from China, Moldova and Turkey to determine whether the subject merchandise is being dumped and whether this dumping has caused injury to the EU industry.
All interested parties are thereby invited to submit relevant information.
The EC is to conclude the investigation within 15 months, while provisional measures may be imposed no later than nine months from the date of the notice publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
