France-headquartered mining and metallurgical company Eramet has announced its manganese ore and alloys production results for 2019.
In 2019, Eramet produced 4.8 million mt of manganese ore, exceeding the results of 2018 by 10 percent, according to the official statement. The increase is attributed to the company’s modular approach, supported by new dry mining processing. In addition, the company aims to set a new production record this year and to hit 5 million mt of output. The manganese ore is produced at the Moanda mine in Gabon, which belongs to Eramet’s subsidiary Comilog - the second largest producer of manganese in the world.
While the total shipments of manganese ore rose by 17 percent year on year to 4.6 million mt in 2019, the shipments to third parties amounted to 3.9 million mt, up 15 percent year on year.
In 2019, Eramet produced 740,000 mt of manganese alloys, up 2.8 percent year on year. In the given period, its sales increased by four percent year on year to 733,000 mt. However, the production of refined ferromanganese moved down by eight percent amid the unfavorable market conditions in this segment, SteelOrbis has learned.
