Essar Steel’s flat steel output up 29 percent in Q1 FY 2017-18

Gujarat, India-based steelmaker Essar Steel has announced that its flat steel production increased by 29 percent year on year to 1.57 million mt in the first quarter ended June 30 of the 2017-18 financial year. In particular, in the given quarter, Essar Steel’s pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil output amounted to 84,800 mt, up 8.3 percent year on year, constituting its highest-ever quarterly PPGI output.

In the first quarter, Essar Steel's pellet output totaled 2.75 million mt, rising by 36 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
