Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that in July it produced 12,238 metric tons of crude steel and 11,013 mt of long steel products.
Meanwhile, in August GMZ plans to increase its crude steel production by 36.5 percent month on month to 16,700 mt and to raise its long steel product output by 29.5 percent month on month to 14,260 mt.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in June this year GMZ restarted its production operations with the support of the local authorities in Russia's Kemerovo region and in the town of Guryevsk, which both helped to solve the plant's main problem relating to raw material purchases. In May this year, due to lack of orders and raw materials, GMZ produced 5,350 mt of crude steel and 4,500 mt of longs before shutting down its production operations at the end of the month in question.
