The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has initiated an expiry review of the countervailing duties (CVD) on certain stainless steel bars and rods originating in India.

The application for the review was filed by the European Steel Association (EUROFER) in January this year, providing evidence that the producers of the product under review in India have benefitted and are likely to continue to benefit from a number of subsidies granted by the government of India and from regional subsidies. The expiry review investigation will cover the period from April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2016.

The product under review currently falls within CN codes 7222.20.21, 7222.20.29, 7222.20.31, 7222.20.39, 7222.20.81 and 7222.20.89.
