In March this year, new car registrations totaled 1,700,683 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of six percent year on year, marking the 31st consecutive month of year-on-year growth, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In March, Italy (+17.4%) was the major EU market which recorded the biggest increase in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, followed by France (+7.5%) and the UK (+5.3%), which also performed better than in March 2015.
Meanwhile, in the January-March period, new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 3,819,269 units, up 8.2 percent year on year. In this period, Italy saw an increase of 20.8 percent, while new passenger car registrations in France rose by 8.2 percent, Spain saw a rise of 6.9 percent, with registrations in the UK rising by 5.1 percent and with registrations in Germany up 4.5 percent, all year-on-year basis.
