EU stainless crude steel output down six percent in Jan-May

In the first five months of the current year, European stainless crude steel production decreased by six percent year on year to 3.2 million metric tons, according to the Stainless Steel Report June 2015 issued by Germany-based service center Damstahl.

Meanwhile, In the January-May period of this year, Norway’s stainless flat steel imports recorded a decrease of 18 percent year on year. In the first four months of the year, Germany’s stainless flat steel imports remained stable, while the stainless flat steel imports of Sweden and the Netherlands both fell by 32 percent, all year on year. In the January-March period, Denmark’s stainless flat steel product imports fell by 17 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while in the first quarter stainless flat steel imports recorded a 43 percent rise year on year. 

According to the Damstahl report, in the first five months of this year, stainless crude steel production increased in Austria, Belgium, Finland and Sweden, while other European countries recorded decrease in the production of stainless crude steel.
