EU starts AD investigation for certain welded pipes from three countries

The European Commission (EC) has initiated an antidumping (AD) investigation regarding certain welded tubes, pipes and hollow profiles of square or rectangular cross-section, of iron other than cast iron or steel other than stainless, from the Republic of Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine.

According to the complaint filed by the Defense Committee of the Welded Steel Tubes Industry of the European Union, representing a major proportion, in this case more than 25 percent, of total EU production, there is evidence that imports of the product subject to investigation from the countries in question have increased overall in absolute terms and in terms of market share.

The European Commission requests all the exporters who would like to be involved in the investigation to file an application within 15 days of the date of publication - March 31, 2012 - of the investigation notice in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The EC will determine whether the products subject to investigation have been dumped and whether this dumping has caused material injury to the industry in the European Union. Final results will be issued within 15 months; on the other hand, preliminary measures might be imposed within nine months.

The products subject to the AD investigation currently fall within CN codes 73066192 and 73066199.
