Euro area annual inflation rises to zero percent in March

Annual inflation in the euro area was 0.0 percent in March this year, up from -0.2 percent in February, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In March 2015, the annual inflation rate was -0.1 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was also 0.0 percent in March, up from -0.1 percent in February. In March 2015, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was -0.1 percent.
 
In March this year, negative annual rates were observed in 15 states in the EU-28. The lowest inflation rates were observed in Romania (-2.4%), Cyprus (-2.2%) and Bulgaria (-1.9%), while the highest were observed in Belgium (1.6%), Sweden (1.2%) and Malta (1.0%).
