Euro area annual inflation stable at 2.6 percent in September

Annual inflation in the euro area was 2.6 percent in September this year, stable compared with August, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In September 2011, the annual inflation rate was 3.0 percent. Meanwhile, monthly inflation was 0.7 percent in September this year.
Meanwhile, in the European Union annual inflation was 2.7 percent in September, also unchanged compared with last month. In the same month of the previous year, the annual inflation rate was registered as 3.3 percent, while monthly inflation was 0.6 percent in September this year.
 
In September, the lowest annual inflation rates in the European Union were observed in Greece with 0.3 percent, in Sweden with 1.0 percent and in Latvia with 1.9 percent, while the highest were seen in Hungary with 6.4 percent, in Romania with 5.4 percent and in Estonia with 4.1 percent. In September this year, annual inflation fell in 10 states, rose in 11 and remained stable in five states compared with the same month of 2011.
 
The lowest 12-month averages up to the end of September 2012 were registered in Sweden at 0.9 percent and in Greece with 1.6 percent and in Ireland with at 1.9 percent, while the highest were recorded in Hungary with 5.3 percent, in Estonia with 4.3
