According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in October this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 0.4 percent as compared to September and by 1.5 percent compared to the same month of 2013. In september, production had decreased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in October of the current year increased by 1.3 percent month on month, while increasing 1.4 percent compared to October 2013. In September, production had decreased by one percent compared to August, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in October increased by 0.4 percent month on month and by 2.3 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by 0.2 percent from September but was decreased by 1.5 percent year on year.
As compared to September, construction output in October increased in Hungary by four percent, in Italy by 3.2 percent and the Netherlands by 2.2 percent, while a decrease of 6.1 percent was registered in Romania, a decline of 2.2 percent was recorded in the UK and a fall of one percent was seen in Bulgaria.
As compared to October 2013, construction output in October of the current year increased in Hungary by 15.8 percent, in Spain by 13.9 percent, in Sweden by 10.5 percent, in the Netherlands by five percent, in Bulgaria by 2.7 percent and in the Czech Republic by 2.4 percent, while a decrease of 11.3 percent was registered in Romania, a decline of 4.3 percent was seen in Italy, a drop of 4.2 percent was registered in Slovakia, a decrease of 2.5 percent was seen in Slovenia and a decline of 1.1 percent was witnessed in France.
