In February this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 0.2 percent in the euro area and rose by 0.4 percent in the EU-28 as compared with January, while industrial production in January had remained unchanged in the euro area and had increased by 0.2 percent in EU-28, month on month. In February this year compared with February 2013, industrial production increased by 1.7 percent in the euro area and by 2.1 percent in the EU-28. These figures are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union.
As compared to January, in February this year the production of capital goods remained stable in the euro area and increased by 0.2 percent in the EU-28. Meanwhile, in the given month, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.5 percent in the euro area and increased by 0.9 percent in the EU-28, while production of intermediate goods increased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and increased by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, month on month. In February of the current year, production of durable consumer goods decreased by 1.2 percent in the euro area and decreased by 0.7 percent in the EU-28, while production of energy decreased by 1.7 percent in the euro area and fell 1.4 percent in the EU-28, all month on month.
Among the member states, the highest month-on-month increases were registered in Malta (+5.4 percent), Ireland (+5.0 percent) and Lithuania (+2.5 percent), and the largest decreases in Croatia (-2.8 percent), Estonia (-2.2 percent) and Romania (-1.3 percent).
As compared to the same month of 2013, in February this year production of non-durable consumer goods increased by 2.8 percent in the euro area and by 2.7 percent in the EU-28, while production of intermediate goods rose by 4.2 percent in the euro area and by 4.6 percent in the EU-28. In February of the current year, production of durable consumer goods decreased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and increased by 1.5 percent in the EU-28, production of energy dropped by 8.5 percent in the euro area and by 7.2 percent in the EU-28, while production of capital goods increased by four percent in the euro area and rose by 4.5 percent in the EU-28, all year on year.
Among the member states for which data are available, in February this year the largest year-on-year decreases were registered in the Netherlands (-8.9 percent), Finland (-5.4 percent) and Lithuania (-2.1 percent), and the highest increases in Slovakia (+9.0 percent), Romania (+8.9 percent) and Hungary (+8.2 percent).
