German rebar producer Feralpi Stahl and Germany-based energy utility company SachsenEnergie plan to build a 150 MW solar park in the Zeithainer district of Jacobsthal, according to the latter company’s statement.
When operational, the solar park is expected to help avoid more than annual 64,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. The project is still in the planning phase and the Zeithainer municipal council’s approval is awaited.
“Feralpi Stahl is now investing over €200 million in various projects. And, of course, our energy supply automatically comes into focus - we also want green energy for our green steel. And preferably from the region,” said Uwe Reinecke, CEO of Feralpi Stahl.
