Swiss-headquartered company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for September and for the first nine months of 2009.
Accordingly, in the January-September period the company registered a 3.3 percent decrease year on year in its iron ore production to 20.886 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw a 5.5 percent fall to 7.765 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) decreased by 5.9 percent year on year to 6.37 million metric tons. The company also processed 45,800 mt of pellets from purchased raw materials, bringing its overall pellets output to 6.417 million mt - down 9.6 percent year on year.
In September this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) was at full capacity, registering a small increase of 0.5 percent month on month to 750,300 mt. On the other hand its pellet production from purchased raw materials went down by 36.7 percent to 10,000 mt, thus causing a 0.3 percent drop in the company's overall September pellet output, which amounted to 760,300 mt.
Meanwhile, during the ninth month of 2009, the company's iron ore output went slightly down by 0.1 percent, its concentrate production increased by 0.6 percent, compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.352 million and 937,000.
Ferrexpo has produced at full capacity since March this year.
