Ferrous metal shipments by Russian Railways up 1.5 percent in January-August

In August of the current year, total shipment volumes by Russian railway monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) decreased by 0.6 percent year on year to 105.2 million mt. At the same time, in the January-August period this year total shipment volumes by RZD declined by 1.4 percent year on year to 796.8 million mt.

In particular, Russian Railways' ferrous metal shipments increased by 1.5 percent year on year to 48.1 million mt in the January-August period of the current year, steel scrap shipments increased by five percent to 10 million mt, manganese and iron ore shipments increased by 0.8 percent to 72.2 million mt, while coke shipments went down by 1.5 percent year on year to 7.5 million mt.
