France's manufacturing output in August this year increased by 2.2 percent month on month, after a 0.2 percent month-on-month decline in July, and fell by 0.1 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). In the June-August period, France’s manufacturing output indicated a decrease of 0.2 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In August, France's production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 1.7 percent compared to July, after a month-on-month decrease of 0.7 percent in July. In the June-August period, the country’s production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 0.9 percent compared to the previous quarter.
On the other hand, in August production of France's motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry saw an increase of 7.7 percent on month-on-month basis after a 3.4 percent month-on-month fall recorded in the previous month, while the output of the domestic construction industry decreased by 2.6 percent month on month in the given month after an increase of 3.4 percent in July from June. In the June-August period, output of the motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry decreased by 0.3 percent and output of the domestic construction industry rose by 2.4 percent, both quarter on quarter.
