According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in 2011 France's total steel product exports amounted to €14.9 billion, up 12.1 percent year on year, while its basic steel product and ferroalloy exports amounted to a value of €10.44 billion, increasing by 9.7 percent year on year.
The cumulative value of France's steel product and ferroalloy exports has risen steadily since March 2010 on year-on-year basis. In 2011, steel and ferroalloys ranked seventh among the most exported products of the country.
In 2011, France exported €2.4 billion of steel pipes and tubes - up 30 percent, €410.8 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 25.5 percent, €532.1 million of cold rolled steel strip - up nine percent, €395.6 million of cold drawn wire - up 21.3 percent, and €727.9 million of metal structures and parts - down 8.6 percent, all compared to 2010.
Meanwhile, in 2011 France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports totaled €10.5 billion, up 17 percent year on year.
During last year, France imported €1.8 billion of steel pipes and tubes - up 14.6 percent, €495.2 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 33 percent, €657 million of cold rolled steel strip - up 15.6 percent, €437.9 million of cold drawn wire - up 17.5 percent, and €1.4 billion of metal structures and parts - up 4.6 percent, all compared to 2010.
