Gerdau Sidenor officially renamed as Gerdau

Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau Sidenor has been officially renamed Gerdau as of June 1. According to a company press release, this is the climax of the integration process started in 2006 aimed at creating one single and global entity.

Porto Alegre, Brazil-based Gerdau is a major player in North and South America in the long steel market. The company can count upon 45,000 employees worldwide and production units in 14 different countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Its total production capacity amounts to 25 million mt of crude steel.

In Europe, Gerdau is a leading producer of special steel due to its five operating sites in Spain (three steel mills and two foundries) with a total output capacity of about 1 million mt. Moreover, the former Gerdau Sidenor has four commercial units in Europe - in Italy (Milan), France (Lille), United Kingdom (London) and Germany (Düsseldorf).
