Guizhou Province to step up consolidation of local steel industry

Friday, 18 February 2011 11:51:30 (GMT+3)   |
According to the latest development program for the steel industry in China's Guizhou Province, in the country's 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015) the Guizhou government aims to form three major steel production bases in the province with a total annual production capacity of over 15 million mt of crude steel, up to a maximum of 20 million mt per annum.

In the given period, the Guizhou provincial government plans to gradually reduce the number of the steelmaking enterprises in the province through elimination of outdated production capacity as well as through mergers and acquisitions. In addition, the three steel production bases which are to be formed will produce over 95 percent of crude steel and pig iron output in Guizhou Province.

Finished steel production in the province will be mainly focused on construction steel, stainless steel and special steel during the given period. In addition, production of hot rolled sheet (HRS) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) will be developed.
