Hangang to eliminate 1.7 million mt of dated capacity

Hangang Co., a subsidiary of giant Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron & Steel Group, has announced the disassembly of its No. 2 blast furnace, the producer’s first step in the elimination of its four 300 m3 blast furnaces. The total capacities to be eliminated by Hangang in the current phase will amount to 1.7 million mt, equaling the capacity of a small to medium-sized steel producer.
